Our 8‑Application Program, Timed for Lewisburg

Timing is most of the job. These windows come from Mississippi State research for north Mississippi, miss them and you spend the year chasing weeds you could have prevented.

Visit 1 · Jan, Feb

We clear out winter weeds, chickweed, henbit, and sticker weed, while they are still small, and lay down a barrier that stops spring weeds before they come up.

Visit 2 · Feb, Mar

Crabgrass prevention. Mississippi State puts the window at February to mid‑March and tells the northern counties to aim for the back half of it. On a Lewisburg hillside this matters double, crabgrass takes the dry high ground first.

Visit 3 · Apr, May

First feeding of the year, at a rate matched to your actual acreage. A hillside yard does not feed evenly from top to bottom, and a one‑size bag from the hardware store will not fix that.

Visit 4 · May, Jun

Round two of weed prevention so the barrier holds through summer, plus feeding and nutsedge control. Nutsedge shows up first in the wet draws at the bottom of the slope.

Visit 5 · Jul, Aug

Summer feeding built for our heat. We use a slow‑release product so it feeds steadily instead of burning, on a slope, slow‑release is the difference between feeding the lawn and feeding the ditch.

Visit 6 · Sep, Oct

Winter weed prevention, and this one has a hard deadline. It goes down after mid‑August and before September 1. Miss it and you get patchy, light‑green clumps all winter.

Visit 7 · Oct, Nov

Fall follow‑up. This is the visit that keeps sticker weed out of your yard, it sprouts in fall, sits unnoticed all winter, then stings bare feet in April.

Visit 8 · Nov, Dec

Lime. The high ground around Lewisburg is sour and wants it. The low, wet ground usually does not. We test rather than blanket the whole property.

Plans from $30.90 / Month

Or $46.35 per treatment. Every Lewisburg lawn is measured and priced to size, which matters here, where one house sits on a third of an acre and the next one sits on three. Free service calls between visits.

Why Lewisburg Lawns Behave the Way They Do

Lewisburg is not a town. There is no city hall, no mayor, and no city limit sign, it is a stretch of rolling country south of Olive Branch that everyone knows by the schools. That is worth saying out loud, because it explains a lot about the lawns here.

No City Hall, No City Rules

Because Lewisburg has no government, it has no grass‑height ordinance and no city code officer. Nobody is going to send you a letter. That is freedom, but it also means nothing is keeping the lot next door from seeding weeds into yours.

You Live on a Hillside

This is some of the steepest ground in DeSoto County. Water runs off before it soaks in, so the top of the slope browns out first in July while the bottom stays green. Granular products wash downhill in a hard rain, which is why what gets applied here has to stay put.

And Then a Wet Bottom

The flip side of hills is draws. The low ground on a Lewisburg lot holds water for weeks and grows moss and sedge instead of grass. It is genuinely two different lawns on one property, and treating them the same is why most programs disappoint here.

Lots Are Five Times Olive Branch

The typical improved lot around Lewisburg runs about an acre and a half, roughly five times the typical Olive Branch lot. But it is split: about one in six is a normal subdivision lot and better than a third are two acres or more. Pricing off a chart does not work here.

A Hard Layer About Two Feet Down

Under the high ground the soil turns into a dense layer roots cannot push through. Winter rain perches on it, then the shallow ground above dries out fast in July. Soggy in February, burnt in August, same yard.

This Area Is Growing Fast

The unincorporated part of DeSoto County has been growing about two and a half times faster than the county as a whole, and Lewisburg High’s enrollment has nearly doubled since 2012. That means a lot of new lawns on freshly graded ground, the ones that fail without a program.

What Grows Well in Lewisburg

We sit in a stretch of the country where grass is genuinely hard to grow, too hot in summer for northern grasses, too cold in winter for southern ones. On a big sloping lot the honest answer looks different than it does in a subdivision.

Bermudagrass

The workhorse for open Lewisburg acreage. Tough, heat‑proof, and it fills back in fast, which matters on a slope, where thin spots turn into washouts. It is hungry and it will not grow in shade.

Zoysia

Finer and denser than bermuda, and it handles a little more shade. Slow to establish and slow to recover from damage, so it makes more sense around the house than across three acres.

St. Augustine, Skip It

Mississippi State tells homeowners in counties that touch Tennessee not to plant it. Our winters are too cold for it. If someone is trying to sell it to you out here, ask why.

Watch the Fence Line

On acreage that used to be pasture, bahiagrass and dallisgrass are already in the ground waiting for a dry spell. Mississippi State calls bahiagrass a grass grown here more by mistake than on purpose, it moves in when good grass gets stressed.

The Timing Has Shifted

Our area officially got warmer a couple of years ago, and that moved the feeding schedule about two weeks earlier. If you are still going off advice from ten years back, your timing is off.

It was all weeds when I moved in, and after being treated, I have no weeds in my yard at all.

Lewisburg Lawn Care, Common Questions

Straight answers on pricing, acreage, hills, and licensing.

Our program starts at $30.90 a month, but that is a small‑lot starting price and Lewisburg lots are not small. We measure yours and give you a real number, free, and usually in a few minutes.

No, and we would rather tell you than pretend. There is no Lewisburg city government, it is an unincorporated part of DeSoto County that everyone identifies by the schools. Your mail probably says Olive Branch or Hernando.

Yes. A good share of what we do around Lewisburg is acreage, and we price by measured size rather than a flat residential rate.

That is the classic Lewisburg hillside. Water runs off the high ground before it soaks in, so the top dries out first and stays hungry. It is fixed with aeration, split watering cycles, and slow‑release feeding, not more fertilizer.

Partly. The draws here hold water for weeks and no treatment changes that. What we can do is keep the grass thick enough to compete, control the sedge and moss, and time applications so they are not washed off before they work.

On the high ground, usually yes. In the wet bottoms, often no. On a Lewisburg property it can genuinely be both, which is why we test instead of blanketing the whole place.

Early to mid March for crabgrass, and after mid‑August but before September 1 for winter weeds. Those two dates decide how your lawn looks the rest of the year.

The whole Lewisburg area, plus Olive Branch, Hernando, Southaven, Horn Lake, Nesbit, and Byhalia, and we are licensed for the Tennessee side of the line too.

The quality of the service really stood out—my yard looks clean, fresh, and professionally maintained. The lines are crisp, everything was evenly cut, and they took the time to make sure the entire space looked polished. They didn’t rush the job and paid attention to the details, which definitely shows in the final result.

What I also appreciated was how efficient and respectful the team was while on-site. No mess left behind, everything was cleaned up, and they made sure the yard looked better than they found it.

Overall, excellent service from start to finish. Reliable, professional, and they deliver exactly what you’d expect—and more. Can’t wait until my next service provided by Lawn Jox and would recommend them to anyone looking for quality lawn care.

We greatly appreciate the service and attention to detail that Lawn Jox provides. We recently had some weeds sprouting up in the driveway cracks and asked if they could tend to those. Not only did they take care of those areas but they even tackled some of the areas in front of our flower bed that were starting to grow some weeds. We’ve been with Lawn Jox the last 5 years and are pleased overall!
