Professional Lawn Aeration
Complete Soil Boosting Programs With Lawn Aeration
At Lawn Jox, we know that a proper lawn care regimen that includes yard aeration plays a vital role in the overall health of your property.
But what happens when mowing, fertilization, and irrigation aren’t enough? If you find that your property simply isn’t thriving, no matter what you do, it may be suffering from soil compaction and thatch buildup. Lawn Jox can help. We offer innovative, professional aeration services to reverse current damage and promote new, robust growth.
Bermuda not greening up in patches this spring? That is usually spring dead spot, and thatch is part of why it takes hold.
What Aeration Actually Does
Compaction and thatch are the reason a lawn stops responding to everything else you do. This is how we fix that.
Deeper Roots
Pulling plugs gives roots somewhere to go. Open channels let roots push deeper into the soil, and more root mass is what makes a lawn hold up through a Mid-South summer.
Better Drainage
Water follows the holes instead of running off. Rain and irrigation reach the root zone through thousands of open channels rather than sitting on a compacted surface.
Relieves Compaction
Mid-South clay packs down hard over a season, and compacted soil keeps water, air and fertilizer from ever reaching the roots. We pull thousands of small plugs across the lawn to open it back up, so everything you put down actually gets where it needs to go.
Less Drought Stress
Soil that takes water in and holds it properly carries turf through a Mid-South summer with far less stress on the plant.
Makes Feeding Work
Aeration does not replace fertilization and weed control. It makes both work better by getting product down where it can actually do something.
Noticeable in Weeks
Most lawns look and feel different within a few weeks. Firmer footing, better color, quicker recovery from wear.
What core aeration actually involves
What a visit includes
- Pulling thousands of soil plugs out of the lawn, not spiking or slicing it
- Opening up the compacted clay so water, air and fertilizer reach the roots
- Plugs left to break down on the surface, which is where the benefit is
When we do it
Bermuda and zoysia are aerated while they are actively growing, so June through August is the window here. Aerating a warm-season lawn while it is dormant does more harm than good, which is why we will turn the job down in December.
What it will not fix
- It will not fix turf that is thin from shade. Nothing does except less shade.
- It is not dethatching. Aeration goes after the soil, dethatching goes after the layer on top of it.
- On a lawn that is not being fed, aeration alone will not do much.
- It will not level a bumpy lawn. That is topdressing, and it is a different job.
What it costs
Priced on lawn size. Included in the Elite program.
